About

I grew up on a farm in Northeast Missouri and graduated from Canton High School, Canton, MO.  I received my BS from Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal, MO and my Masters of Education from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO.  My husband and I now reside in Chatham.

In high school, I always enjoyed my math and accounting classes and as a result of those experiences, I intended to pursue a degree in accounting in college.   During my first two years of college, I often recalled my high school math teacher, Mrs. Wheeler, encouraging me to be a teacher.  She made a point to come to my locker one day to tell me she thought I would be a good teacher. She was one of my favorite teachers who I respected a great deal.   Even though I appreciated her encouragement, at the time I didn’t really give any serious thought to pursuing a career in teaching.  I felt more and more of a calling to be a teacher during my first two years of college.

When my college started a new degree, Secondary Business Education, I knew that was the direction I wanted to go and made the decision to major to Education.  It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  Teaching is such a rewarding job.  I taught for 11 years at Camp Point High School in Camp Point, IL and have been teaching at Auburn since 2005.

My goal is to teach students skills that they will use in their personal and professional lives and to motivate them to do their best.  I truly enjoy teaching and helping students prepare for their future.
